At Watermelon, we’re always looking for ways to help you create more meaningful connections with your customers without extra manual work. We’re excited to announce our latest release: Automation of Contact Fields. This update makes your AI Agent even smarter and your workflows even smoother. This release consists of two different features: Automatically Capturing Browser Data and Automatically Fill in Default Fields.

Automatically Fill in Default Fields

Your AI Agent can now instantly fill in contact fields based on information shared by users during chats.

When a user says, “My email is john@example.com,” or “My phone number is 0612345678,” your AI Agent updates the profile on the spot no more manual data entry.

Supported fields:

  • First name

  • Last name

  • Email address

  • Phone number

Automatically Capturing Browser Data

With Automatically Capturing Browser Data, your AI Agent now collects key visitor details each time someone interacts with your chat widget.

What’s captured?

  • Browser language

  • Browser type

  • Browser version

  • Operating system

  • First seen

  • Last seen

  • Last contacted

  • Last heard from

  • Number of web sessions since first contact

This gives your team instant context to understand user behavior and tailor each conversation, automatically.

Use case: Jasper from Sales

Jasper is part of the sales team at a fast growing SaaS company that uses Watermelon. His daily work involves following up on leads that come in via the website chat. Before this release, Jasper had to manually extract contact details from every conversation to update the CRM, which often led to errors or delays and sometimes, missing out on hot leads.

With Automation of Contact Fields, Jasper’s AI Agent now automatically captures email addresses and phone numbers as soon as a visitor shares them. On top of that, thanks to browser data like ‘first seen’ and ‘last contacted,’ Jasper can easily see if a lead is brand new, returning, or recently engaged.

This means he can prioritize the hottest leads first, personalize his outreach with more context, and move quickly when someone shows high intent. Instead of spending time on admin work, Jasper can focus on what he does best: building relationships, understanding customer needs, and closing deals faster.

The result? A more streamlined sales pipeline, higher conversion rates, and happier customers who feel seen and valued from the very first chat.

Use case: Meet Lisa from Customer Support

Lisa works on the support team of an e-commerce company using Watermelon. Every day, she handles dozens of live chats with customers asking about orders, returns, and product questions.

Before this release, Lisa had to manually copy email addresses and phone numbers from chat messages into each contact profile, a repetitive, time-consuming task.

With the new release, the Agent now automatically fills in default fields. As a result, Lisa immediately sees the customer’s name, email address, and phone number. This gives her all the context she needs to respond personally and pick up the conversation effortlessly, leading to more effective and engaging support.

Now, Lisa can focus entirely on helping customers and providing personal recommendations instead of updating contact info. The result? Faster responses, happier customers, and a more efficient support team.
